Two ways to enjoy your boat with confidence

Whether you need a vessel moved with care or the skills to handle it yourself, every engagement is built on seamanship, preparation, and clear communication.

Yacht & Boat Delivery

From short repositioning runs for haul-out and maintenance to long-distance passages for a newly purchased vessel, we can safely transport your boat anywhere on the Western Seaboard — from Mexico to Alaska. From the moment we take command to the moment she reaches her berth, your yacht is our responsibility.

  • Sail & power monohulls, 40–70 feet
  • Redundant navigation & a full mechanical kit aboard
  • Regular position reports and a full accounting on arrival
  • Careful passage planning around Pacific Northwest weather

Training & Instruction

With patient, tailored training, we help you feel at home on your own vessel. We start by walking through every system aboard so nothing is a mystery, then build real competency on the water — at whatever pace feels right for you. Whether you are stepping aboard your first boat or moving up to a larger one, you will leave the dock knowing her inside and out.

  • A full systems walk-through, dock to masthead
  • Close-quarters maneuvering & docking
  • Sail trim, anchoring & coastal navigation
  • Sail or power — ASA-certified instruction

About Us

Meet Captain Charlie Cahill

Puget Sound Yacht Deliveries is run by Charlie Cahill, whose boating career began when he was a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. After learning to sail at the community sailing club, he soon began teaching and eventually became head of instruction for the racing keelboats. Racing J boats on Lake Mendota was the perfect escape from the grind of grad school.

Charlie has spent the past six years as a sea gypsy, going wherever the winds took him. He spent two seasons as a private catamaran captain in the Mediterranean before doing his first transatlantic delivery in 2023. He has also done several Central American deliveries on both the Atlantic and Pacific sides. Most recently, he spent three seasons as a mate and onboard naturalist for a small eco-tourism cruise ship in SE Alaska.

Charlie holds a USCG 200 Ton Master license and is also a certified ASA instructor. He is excited to help new sail and power boaters gain the confidence they desire to enjoy life on the water.

Charlie brought our new 52-footer up from California without a scratch and kept us posted the whole way. The hand-off notes and the full log of the trip told us everything we needed to know. Completely at ease trusting him with the boat.

We bought our first trawler and were honestly nervous about close-quarters docking. Two weekends with Charlie and my wife and I now bring her into the slip ourselves. Patient, unhurried, and genuinely a good teacher.

A maintenance move up to the yard that I couldn't make myself. Everything was handled professionally, the weather calls were smart, and I got a clear accounting at the end. I've already booked him for the return trip.
